Roof Lights
Roof light replacement is the service we offer with the most obvious and striking result. Replacing Roof lights can be the most effective method of getting more natural daylight into a commercial building or warehouse.
Roof lights become fragile, brittle and discoloured after approximately 15 years. This is mainly due to the UV light attacking the outer layer of the roof light.
Old roof lights can be a major cause of water ingress when seals break down or the general fabric of the roof light reaches the end of its life. Generally speaking the lifespan of a roof light will be significantly less than the main roof covering.
The installation of new roof lights can greatly reduce the number of leaks within the building, whilst also providing natural daylight to enhance working conditions.
The difference in light transmission between old and new roof lights could mean that you could turn off your artificial lighting and save on the cost of the electricity.
Glass reinforced polyester resin or (GRP) roof lights are supplied in various thicknesses and with different fire ratings. If there will be a service engineers trafficking the roof non-fragile roof lights should be installed.
If you have a mezzanine floor or single storey building Tinted GRP roof lights can be installed to diffuse light and to reduce glare and solar gain within the building.
Using a selection of leading manufacturers we can find a suitable replacement for existing and discontinued profiles, whether you have an asbestos cement or metal roof system.
If heat loss and condensation are a problem double or triple skin roof lights may be an option.
Repairs
Profiled Steel Sheeted Roofs
Random repairs, such as simple sheet replacement, fitting overlay sheets or the installation of new flashings may be adequate to resolve minor issues. Leaking fixings can be replaced, sheet end laps can be coated and extrusions can be correctly flashed in and sealed.
Replacing the rooflights may also be an option to cure leaks in these roofs.
Asbestos/Cement Roofs
Over time Cement bonded fibre roofs can crack or become porous. It is possible to overlay these damaged sheets with GRP overlay sheets.
The new overlay sheets are designed to a weight of at least 2.6kg/square metre and incorporate an additional woven glass-reinforcing mat. The weather face of the new sheets is treated with a gel coat to provide UV protection. We can match most common profiles.
Replacing the rooflights may also be an option to cure leaks in these roofs.
Flat Roofs
Sometimes it is not necessary to treat the whole roof and often budget restraints mean that it is not viable to do so. In certain cases it may be possible to address specific areas of the roof such as upstand details around the perimeter and around roof lights.
Patch repairs with a purpose manufactured coating may also be an option.
Gutters
Gutters can be cleaned to enable us to carry out localised repairs.
